Welcome back to my little corner of the web! This week we’ll expand on my comment from my last post (Click Here to Refresh your Memory). My comment was “There was so much value packed into this simple and easy to read book! I was eager to find out more”. So that’s what we are going to discover today How to start in Affiliate Marketing.
The Discovery of Affiliate Marketing Begins
I started researching what products Dean Hollands Internet Profits had to offer in the realm of Affiliate Marketing.
There were several programs available, and after reviewing them they seemed more geared towards those people that were already affiliate marketers or were familiar with affiliate marketing.
I went on to review one program called “The Quick Start Challenge” whereby following a six-day set of lessons/challenges I could dip my toes into the waters of affiliate marketing. Now, this is what I was looking for! A six-day beginner friendly “challenge” which contained the core training, resources and action steps to starting an online affiliate marketing business.
So, I thought all that is required to start is a small investment which can be considered a business expense. It’s a small price to pay to be able to better understand whether affiliate marketing was going to be something I could see myself doing. Better yet capable of doing to make extra money during my pre-retirement years and carry over into my retirement years.
What Comes Next?
So, I took the leap and purchased the challenge. Within a few minutes I received an email from Dean Holland at Internet Profits. I was welcomed to the challenge and given a username and password to get started. He also let me know that I had access to coaching to answer my questions. This would ensure nothing holds me back as I moved through this start of affiliate marketing challenge!
I immediately got right to it and logged into the challenge. There I was met with a welcome video from Dean and a list of challenges for each of the six days. Each day is broken down into separate lessons and action steps to do based upon that day’s lessons. Below are the challenges for each day:
- Day 1: Laying The Foundations For Success
- Day 2: Deploying Your List Building Engine
- Day 3: Automated Sales System
- Day 4: Multiple Streams of Income
- Day 5: Turning on the Traffic Tap
- Day 6: The Master Plan: Zero to $3,000 a Month
Each day I went through each challenge completing the lessons and action steps for that day. I found it to be quite refreshing. The lessons were expansions of the exact strategies which Dean had laid out in his book “The Iceberg Effect”. This made the lessons easier to understand and connecting the dots started to become clearer since I was already starting to form a foundation from reading The Iceberg Effect.
Details are the Keys to Starting Affiliate Marketing
While the following keys are by no means the complete list of the details which I learned throughout the challenge. They are some of the highlights that will make a major difference in being successful in affiliate marketing.
Day 1
There are 9 lessons in all for the first day’s challenge, so you have to prepare yourself to buckle down and do the work if you plan to get anything out of this.
A lesson introduced in The Iceberg Effect was on the 4 Core Areas of Focus. In this lesson Dean reviewed the basics of these four items and dove deeper into what each of the 4 core areas did and how to achieve them. These 4 Core Areas are Traffic, Capturing Traffic, Following Up and Making Offers.
Although Dean wrote a complete chapter devoted to these 4 Core Areas, this lesson help connect the dots with real world affiliate marketing applications.
Another lesson was discovering your niche. Discovering your niche is also an important part of your affiliate marketing business, because without knowing who your audience is you can’t effectively work on the 4 Core Areas of Focus.
Day 2
Day 2’s seven lessons focus on Capture, the second key area. These lessons define email lists and their purpose. I was led through the old ways of building an email list to the Triple Tier way of list building. The lessons show the tools and assets needed to accomplish these methods as well setting up my first official web presence.
Day 3
Day 3 brought no work reprieve of having 7 lessons. I was back in the saddle with 9 more for the days challenge. These 9 lessons are focused on the next of the 4 Core Areas of Focus the Follow up.
The lessons took me through understanding an automated sales system, email marketing basics and why automation. The lessons took me through creating a professional e-mail address as well as creating the email system to setting up my email list.
Day 4
Once again, this day’s challenge was full of 9 more lessons. These lessons are devoted to yes you guested it the 4th area of focus the making offers.
These lessons clarify how to generate online income, detailing the significant shift in affiliate marketing that birthed the Iceberg Effect and Ultimate Funnel concepts. What affiliate offers are, how you can make multiple streams of income with affiliate offers and finally how to bring it all together.
Day 5
Day 5 brings some relief with only 7 lessons focused on traffic, the first main topic.
The lessons explained what traffic was, how to turn on the traffic tap, that traffic actually has temperatures and types. Then the lessons dove into the Ultimate Free Traffic System. One of the biggest takeaways of learning about traffic was that it’s not a sprint type of process it takes time to get good or even great at understanding traffic.
Day 6
This was the final day of the challenge. The start of having the tools and assets setup to actually go out and begin implementing the lessons learned. A start to generating affiliate marketing commissions. Without a plan to follow your level of success is very low, so this day’s lessons were creating that Master Plan, achieving a full-time income.
The lessons concluded with our own call to action. What do I need to succeed?

Ezequiel, First thanks for stopping by and commenting. One of the most refreshing things I have noticed about being a part of IP is that no matter what course you take, what book you read Dean has always been clear on the same 4 Core Areas of Focus.
Hi Ken,
Nice post, I actually purchase this product about a year ago. I went through all the days, but ofcourse it took me longer than 6 days because I wanted to take my time and really follow along accurately.
I do recommend it for anyone who already had affiliate marketing and have things going on already.
Everything you said there was accurate. I do remember a form available for asking questions in case help is needed. Very helpful!
